My Pioneer Children

My babies left this morning for their Pioneer Trek youth conference! I had to grab a quick picture of them, although they were not too happy with me! I'm a bit of an apprehensive mother, because I know what is ahead of them the next few days, and they have NO clue! It is going to be a rough 3 days, pushing a hand-cart, very little food, and the heat and humidity is going to be killer. I know that they will grow both physically and spiritually, though, and I am grateful that they have this opportunity. I can't wait to hear all of their stories when they get home.

Kayti and I have been sewing her clothes for the past few days... well, I sewed. Kayti did cut out all of the pattern pieces, though. She had to have 2 dresses, a bonnet, apron, and 2 pair of pantaloons. A great big thanks to Granny, for helping us get this dress done. Josh was so much easier to get ready! We got him a couple of pairs of pants at the thrift store, and several of us went in together and ordered shirts off the internet. Add a straw hat, and he was done! All of the kids looked great this morning, and all of the hard work was worth it.

I've had the Primary song, "LIttle Pioneer Children" running through my head the past couple of days, in particular the line, "Gladly helping each other, merry and happy were they". I sure hope that is how my two are going to be acting the next few days, not grumbly and compaining!

Keep them in your prayers!!

Oh, I really hope they enjoy this experience! When I was in Tuscaloosa, our stake did a trek, and some of the YSA were asked to be the Ma's and Pa's. I was a Ma, and I absolutely loved the trek! Don't get me wrong- It was hard! but I really, really enjoyed the whole experience and am so glad that I got to do it. I don't know if I would have appreciated it as much when I was Kayti and Josh's age, but I hope they do!! I will definitely be praying for them!
