Sunday was the big 4-0 for Barry! His work schedule was horrid this past weekend, so he didn't get to relax and enjoy the day much. He had to work Saturday night, and didn't get home until after 8 on Sunday morning, then he had to be back at work at 5 AM on Monday morning. He slept for a few hours, then got up for a bit, then went back and napped for a while. He was in bed when we got home from church, but we got him up once his birthday dinner was done (his favorite... chili dogs!). The kids couldn't wait for him to open his presents! We got him the granddaddy of Nerf guns... the Longshot! Once it is all put together it is over 3 feet long! Josh, Kyle and Megan ran and got their guns after Barry got his put together, and we had a huge battle in the living room! I was trying to behave myself and only shoot Josh (hee hee!), but he got me right in the face, and that ended my involvement in the fight. I decided to shoot pictures instead! We also got him some art supplies... some paints, canvases, brushes, sketch pads, and an easel. Barry had been a graphic design major when he was first in college, but then changed his major to MIS (Management Information Systems). He always meant to keep up with is art as a hobby, but it has really fallen by the way-side. He has felt a need to pick it back up again, so we decided we would help him out and get him some supplies to kick-start him. We also issued a challenge that we wanted him to have his own tent at Panoply in 2-years time, MAX. Megan is anxious to create with him, and hopefully will give him a little extra push when needed.
Here are some pics from his day:

Kayti thought it would be great to add this to the birthday fun! I'm not sure how much her daddy really appreciated it... she put it right over his pillows so it was waiting for him when he crawled into bed on Sunday morning!

Omigosh! I hope when I am 40 I get a 3-ft long Neft gun!! I am going to start giving my kids subtle hints now in preparation for that day.
Sounds like all is well in the Mayfied home - glad to hear.
Take care!
haha... good job, Kayti!! I really hope Barry makes time for his art. When you have the talent, that's a good hobby to have!
