The Wedding

One of the perks of making the trip to Idaho was being able to be there for my nephew's wedding. A few days after I let him know that I would be there, he and his fiance asked me if I would please take care of the decorating for the wedding and reception. I was thrilled to be able to help them out, and when I found out that their colors were black and red, I was even more excited. You see, I have several very talented sisters-in-law, and we have had several weddings in the past few years using these same colors, so I had lots of ideas to pull from. A very special thanks to my sil, Alisha, who just happened to save decorations from her sister's wedding and let me use them. I spoke with the bride about a month before the wedding, and asked her what she had in mind for her special day. She told me that she didn't really care, but she just wanted it to be pretty. I pulled together pictures of different ideas, sent them to her, and thankfully she liked them. It was a bit difficult to try to plan a wedding from across the country, but I had the help of wonderful nieces, too, so that was a big help. So... on with the pictures!

This is the guest sign-in table. I found the great "B" at Hobby Lobby, and Alisha let me borrow a few of her great bottles. I got the fabric at Sir's in Fayetteville, and it was on sale, too!! Yippee!!

We did a false ceiling in red and white. We already had the white fabric from my niece's reception, and we were able to get the red on sale at Sir's as well. Kristi got the ribbon for us, and we added flowers to the ceiling to add some interest.

My niece, Nicki, decorated the archway. She did a fabulous job!!

We found some great black plates at Wal-Mart, and used those as chargers for the centerpieces. Thanks to two more sweet friends: Cassie, for cutting the vinyl lettering for me, and Shari for serging the toile material!

My sister, Kristi, made chocolate candy bars as party favors. Boy were they yummy!! The cutie in the picture frame is Cole's daughter, Faye. She couldn't be at the wedding, so Priscilla asked me if we could find a place to put her picture.

My sister, Kathy, and her daughter, Kari, made the cake. Didn't they do a fabulous job?!!

Do you want to know a secret? The two bottom "cakes" are styrofoam... only the top one is real! That one the bride and groom will have on their first anniversary, and we served sheet cake during the reception.

Here are the bride and groom, Cole and Priscilla Boyd:

Aren't they so cute? Priscilla is Samoan, and has a very big family. They provided the entertainment at the reception... fun dancing and a skit. At the end of their program, Priscilla asked everyone to get out on the dance floor and dance the electric slide:

This is my niece, Jessica, who caught the bouquet:

Couldn't help but take a picture of the bride's shoes... she wanted to be comfortable and not too tall!

The groom and his brothers, and a couple of extras!

It was a fun wedding, and thankfully the bride loved everything.

Love and miss you, Cole and Priscilla!
